Catalytic oxidation is an excellent choice to abate some waste gases. A catalyst provides an extra compound to the combustion reaction, which allows it to occur at a lower temperature. Where a typical oxidizer operates at 1500F or higher, a catalytic oxidizer operates in the range of 550 to 650F. This lower temperature requirement results in fuel savings for the system operator.
ALZETA’s “Graded-Cell” catalyst, patent no. 4,154,568, optimizes the geometry of the catalyst to provide superior pressure drop and abatement performance. This technology can be combined with any of our short-flame surface combustion burners. Additional energy savings are available with plate-type recuperating heat exchangers. Together, these technologies provide compact, small-footprint configurations for both point-of-use and end-of-pipe locations.
